All Day Confessions

All-Day Confessions:

Fear Is Normal … But Useless!

If it’s been a long time since you’ve been to Confession, fear of going is normal. But fear is useless. It doesn’t help us but ultimately hurts us. And fear hurts our relationship with God. God is love. God is waiting in love to welcome us back home! When you come to all-day Confessions, someone will be there to assist you with your questions or concerns. Greeters will be available to help you formulate your confession and the priests are eager to help you with what you have to say and do. The peace that will come to your soul overcomes all fear! Think about it … and consider going to Confession anytime, all-day, from 8:30 AM to 3 PM here in our own Church on Saturday – March 24.

Confessions will be heard in the following languages at the times indicated:

English: 8:30 AM to 3 PM

French: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM and

2:30 PM to 3:00 PM

Italian: 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM

Portuguese: 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM

The Season of Lent

The Season of Lent …

Holy Mass is offered Monday thru Saturday at 8 AM; Tuesdays at 6 PM; Fridays at 5:30 PM (beginning Friday - February 16).

Stations of the Cross are prayed on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM (beginning February 21) and on Fridays at 6 PM (immediately following the 5:30 PM daily Mass, beginning February 16).

Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 9 AM and from 3 PM to 3:45 PM. Our All-Day Confessions are scheduled for Saturday – March 24 from 8:30 AM to 3 PM. Our confessionals are located in Our Lady’s Chapel of the Church.

Rice Bowl Offerings remind us of our need to care for the hungry and the poor. Our sacrifices make a difference in their lives and in our own! The Rice Bowl Collection is taken up on Palm Sunday (this year on March 24 and 25).

Abstinence from meat and meat products is required of all those 14 years old and over on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent.

Fasting is required of those between the ages of 18 and 59 on Ash Wednesday (February 14) and Good Friday (March 30), but is a good practice of self-control and self-denial on any day of Lent, especially on Fridays when we commemorate in a particular way the Lord’s Passion and Death for us on the Cross. Fasting means no eating between meals; eating only one full meal; trying to eat less.

The Refugee Crisis: A Catholic Response?

The Refugee Crisis: A Catholic Response?

What is our response as Roman Catholics to be to the enormous problem of refugees? Is there a "Catholic response"?

Recently Mark Mallett, a noted Catholic evangelist, author, and speaker wrote an excellent piece entitled A Catholic Answer to the Refugee Crisis. The article is excellent. It's too long to publish in our Parish bulletin in its entirety but the link to the article is posted below.

Read it ... it covers the following essential points:

  • the "why" behind the crisis ... what caused it?
  • the differences and disagreements in the Muslim sects of Islam ... the Sunnis and the Shiites;
  • Islamic ideology and Sharia law;
  • quotes from Pope Saint John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis;
  • the importance of the role of Our Lady.

A Prayer Meeting

A Prayer Meeting ...

is held every Tuesday in our Church at 7 PM. It begins with a period of praise and worship of God in song, followed by a time for listening to God’s Word as God speaks to us through Scriptures and prophesies. Then there is a teaching on a particular topic. The meeting concludes around 8:30 PM with personal prayer for those who wish prayer for themselves or a special intention. Come and experience the Holy Spirit’s power … all are welcome ... come, and Encounter the Lord!
